Conecuh National Forest

Conecuh National Forest
The Conecuh Range is temporarily closed for repairs and is slated to reopen in early spring. We’ll post more info as soon as we have any

Our favorite range is the Conecuh Nation Forest Range in Southern Alabama.  This range is free, unattended, and offers pistol and rifle shooting to 100 yards.  It’s about a 65 mile drive from Fort Walton and is north of Baker, FL.  The range is open Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 8am – 5pm during standard time and 8am – 7pm during daylight savings time.

The range is down a small hill from the parking lot so keep that in mind when packing your gear.  The range has chicken wire target stands at 25, 50, and 100yds.  These are sometimes shot up so it’s best to bring your own target stands.  Legal targets are paper, wood, etc. – things that don’t make a mess.  Clay birds make fun plinking targets when put on the 100yd backstop.

Getting there is easy, take Rt 85 to Crestview.  As you come into Crestview, turn left on PJ Adams Pkwy (at the Citgo Station) and follow this until it ends at Hwy 90.  Turn left on 90 for about 1 mile and then right on Hwy 4.  Take 4 into Baker and continue straight on Hwy 189 at the flasher in Baker.  Cross the Alabama border and continue to just past the mile 13 marker.  You’ll see the sign for the range on the left.  There are no facilities so bring plenty of water in the hot months.
