Conecuh Ranger Reopens this Thursday (26 Sept 2013)

Caleb at Old Conecuh Range  The Conecuh National Forest Shooting Range, one of the only unattended shooting ranges in the area, closed over 2 years ago due to footprint concerns.  At the time of closure, the US Forest Service promised to either modify or relocate the range as soon as possible.

After a long wait, it will finally reopen at its new location this Thursday, September 26th, at 10am.   The range will initially be free, and then $3 per day PER VEHICLE with self-service payment after the reopening.  Based on pictures, it looks like the max distance is still ~100yds and you must bring your own target stands (paper targets only).  There is also a new ‘clays’ area for shotgun shooting.

The new location is at the corner of Alabama county roads 4 and 11 northwest of Baker.  Based on Google Maps, it’s about 56 miles from Ranger Firearms in north Ft Walton Beach – ie about the same distance as the previous location – although it takes more secondary roads to get there.   From Baker, turn west at the 4-way stop and then turn left onto Beaver Creek rd 6.4 miles from the stop.  From there, keep right to stay on Beaver Creek road until it turns into Hwy 4/11 for a short stretch where the range will be on the right.

More CCW Classes!

Due to high demand, we’ve started a new CCW class on the 4th Tuesday of every month at 6:30pm. We also offer a class on the 2nd Tuesday each month.

Our CCW classes meet all Florida requirements for your permit in a short 2 hour format. Classes are just $50 and are held at our Fort Walton Beach store location.

Dealer Show Update

January and February are “Dealer Show” months for our major distributors with lots of special buys and new products for 2011.

Our 1st new orders will start arriving on Monday – including great buys on Mossberg Maverick Scoped Rifle Packages and the very popular SIG P238 .380 ACP compact pistol with Sig Laser Sight.

We’ve also placed stocking dealer orders for:

We hope everyone is enjoying the spring shooting weather!  We just completed our 6th gun show in 8 weeks and finally have a bit of a breather.

Our next reloading class is coming up fast – this Saturday, May 1st at 9am.  Visit the Class Web Page for more info and to sign up.

We have a large supply of #7.5, #8, and #8.5 Lawrence Magnum shot in stock at $37.00 per 25lb bag.  We have some Eagle #9 due in this week.

Small pistol primers remain scarce, we’ve confirmed arrival of some small pistol magnum primers in the next week, but still no ETA on standard.  Supply of other sizes is good and we are receiving a large order of Federal Large Pistol, Large Rifle, and Small Rifle primers this week.

Ammo supply has improved a bit.  We’ve been consistently stocking .380 ACP this month and have a small lot of 45 Long Colt, 41 Rem Mag, and 35 Whelen on the way based on user requests.

Bulk FMJ bullets have been scare, but we have a large selection of boxed bullets by Hornady and Sierra and we have a large order of Missouri Bullet Cast bullets in lots of caliberts/weights coming in this week.

Gun inventory remains strong with great pricing on Mosins and a new batch of ‘shooter’ grade VZ-24 Mausers.  New AK’s in 7.62×39 and 5.45×39 are due in on Thursday.

Best wishes for a Merry Christmas to all our customers!

It’s been a busy week in the store. We received our FFL last Saturday and we now have over 40 guns on display and ready to sell. We’ve also rearranged the store to make room for the new inventory.

Thanks to Jeff and Sarah’s work in making/sourcing shelving, our ammo supply has moved to new shelves and the former ammo counter has moved to the front of the store to become a full reloading demonstration workbench.

This freed up a lot of room in the main store which we’re converting to a reading/snack area. The fridge and microwave are in place and we’ll try to stock a small snack bar next week as well as source a coffee maker.

We’ll be open Christmas Eve from 10am-3pm for last minute shopping and then close until Monday the 28th. We’ll be open next week the 28th – 31st normal hours of 11am-5pm and closed Friday.
